Grand Hotel/Holiday Flats Paris Casino Fire in Blackpool

Looked out the Back Door an hour ago and saw huge palls of smoke bellowing over the rooftops..

The Blackpool Gazette are currently reporting 10 fire crews and 60 fire fighters are in attendance and that neighboring hotels and businesses have been evacuated.

With a Strong wind tonight this Fire will take some putting out but as these pics show it has already destroyed most of the roof.

Update 23.37 the fire which initially looked like it was only in the roof is now spreading down the building and into neighbouring properties..

Big news I reckon on the BBC in the morning..

i just left yeadonway carpark about 20 mins ago (3am ish). there were no floors left in the building and the fire way burning all the way through and alot of the walls falling over into the street. i dont think it will be long until it collapses

Yes we are fine. Wednesday morning and Lytham Rd is still closed. They have a huge digger/crane machine across the front and have started demolition works.

As far as I know residents are being allowed back this morning.

Seems the only lasting effect is most of in South Shore now have crap signals on our mobile phones as most of the operators phone masts were atop the building.

Can antone tell me if the paris has reopened ?

Not yet on the basis it has no roof over it.

They are looking to re-build it but are still examining the fire damage which was extensive and which damaged the building infrastructure.

Is the grand hotel going to re- open at all do you know? I loved staying there…have done for the last few years! Such a shame I wanted to go there for new years!

    Hi Kells,

No there is no chance at this stage of anything re-appearing on the site. Currently the structure has been made safe but remains resembling a WW2 bomb site.

As far as I know there are no plans to re-open the Paris Casino either.
