Futuristic Building on the Tower Headland

Futuristic Building on the Tower Headland

The design for the building, which will stand in the shadow of the iconic Blackpool Tower, has been inspired by the town¹s party-loving reputation and influenced by its coastal weather conditions.

The structure is clad in gold-coloured stainless steel, while its tower, which will host civil wedding ceremonies, features extensive glazing to make the most of views of the sea and the town.

Large parts of the building, which is constructed mainly of cross-laminated timber, will be prefabricated to speed construction.

Commissioned by urban regeneration company ReBlackpool, it will be the main visitor facility in the £14.3 million Tower Festival Headland development.

Planning Permission for the project should be lodged quite soon.
The Tower Headland is currently under construction and will be one of a number. Headlands at South Pier, Waterloo and St Chads Road have already been constructed.
Re Blackpool envisage special events will take place on the headlands and indeed the one at St Chads Road will host this Septembers Junior Volleyball Championships amd they are turning out to be great places to view the Setember Friday evening firework displays.
Mind you there was also recent local talk of a new entrance being contructed to Blackpool Tower on this Headland with a bridge across the Promenade.
