If you were on Planet Mars yesterday you will probably not be aware that Blackpool defeated Cardiff City 3-2 in the Championship play-off Final at Wembley Stadium to earn promotion to the Premier League.
It will be Blackpool’s first appearance to the Premier League since the 1992 founding of the competition and their first appearance in English football’s top flight in 39 years. Blackpool have now, uniquely, been promoted out of all three tiers of the Football League through the play-off system.
