Me and my partner are going to Cleethorpes for the night in mid July- We’ve got the train tickets but as of yet no place to stay. Firstly, does anyone know of any nice/clean/Cheap B&B’s in Cleethorpes? Secondly, I know in Blackpool you can just walk along and see loads of places with ‘Vacency’ signs- is it like that in Cleethorpes? Will we be able to get a place to stay on the day fairly easy? Thanks x

Even got a mention in the Daily Telegraph which given the other hi profile story it has been running this last fortnight is amazing. Good news for the town, good news for the Town’s economy and refreshing many are coming to see the latest innovations in the regeneration work that is going on. Just a crying shame the road closures around Waterloo Road could have been avoided. Whilst we all of course welcome the regeneration going on in the streets layout surely the work could have been scheduled earlier?
Of course down in South Shore the new sea defences and the promenade are by and large finished and only a small section opposite the Dutton Arms needs to be finished off where the contractors have sited all their office. Let’s hope they get their heads down crack on then get up to central and north and get that finished asap.
I keep meaning to take my digital camera down there to take some pics of the newly sown grass ares which are already becoming very popular picnic sites!
So what of the prediction about the Blackpool visitor economy for 2009 will it be a bumper year well the conditions are such that the opportunities are certainly there although not wishing to sound negative I don’t think yet the fact can be taken for granted. From our point of view trade is very definitely up on last year as far as we can measure it of course given we are only at the end of May and Easter fell a lot earlier last year but the forward projections are looking reasonable and trade is coming in every day now.
Anyway I am going to finish this entry off with a little experiment and try to embed the new promotional video about the town which is such a big hit on You Tube. Not sure if you can do this on blogspot but might just demonstrate the versatility of WordPress.
And it seems to work.
