As the Grand Hotel is only 200 yards away as the crow flies the smell of ash and burnt wood is almost overpowering this morning. Anyway here are some shots of the aftermath of the fire which the Lancashire Fire and Rescue service are still dousing down with aerial ladders.
The top of the building also houses a number of mobile phones masts which although still upright look precariously perched.
My orange phone which usually boasts a full set of signal bars has dropped to two no doubt as the power supply to the masts has burnt away.
Aerial Ladders Still Douse the Flames
The Building has been left as a Burnt Out Shell
Lytham Road, Station Road and Dean Street Remain Closed this Morning
Oh dear, I hope everybody escaped ok and wasn’t hurt, that is not good.
Off topic I know but as this is such a great blog I thought it would be a great place to post my question. Has anybody been to Blackpool this year? If so what do you think of the multi million pound redevelopment? Do you think UK seaside resorts such as Blackpool have a future?
i am completely devastated by this i have been coming to this hotel since i was 5 years old i am now 23 and been every year till i was 17 and then every 6 – 7 months a year till this year, i cannot believe this has happened, does anyone know if it will be getting rebuilt?
I am so pleased that everyone got out of this fire unhurt. But thats the only thing i am glad about that hotel nearly took my daughters life at the age of 3 years. Fortunately she survived but was severely scared all because certain regulations were kept up and 19 yrs on i can still remember watching my daughter fight for her life in intensive care.
hi cath what happend to your daughter at this hotel?
Just a quick update. Most of the demolition work is now complete and it really does look like a WW2 bomb site. They are in the process of taking away all the rubble and trying to make good the roof above the Paris Casino.
Anyone with Vodafone? My signal keeps dropping every few minutes making it impossible to have a telephone conversation. Anyone else having problems with their mobile phone signal?
